Sero-Surveillance of Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR)
As part of the PPR Eradication Programme (PPR-EP), Sero-Surveillance plays a critical role in assessing herd immunity and tracking the circulation of the PPR virus across different regions. This surveillance helps evaluate the effectiveness of vaccination campaigns and guides decision-making for future strategies. Targeted blood samples are collected from sheep and goats across states, tested for PPR antibodies using ELISA kits, and data is compiled for analysis. This process supports the ultimate goal of eradicating PPR in India by 2030.
