ICAR-NIVEDI Celebrates 25th Foundation Day

Event Overview

The ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics (ICAR-NIVEDI), Bengaluru, celebrated its 25th Foundation Day at its campus, marking a significant milestone in veterinary research, disease informatics, and One Health. Scientists, staff, and retired members joined in celebrating the institute’s remarkable journey.

2. Welcome Address & Director's Remarks

Dr. P. P. Sengupta welcomed the gathering. Director Dr. Baldev Raj Gulati highlighted the institute’s journey since its inception as PD-ADMAS in 2000 and its evolution into a premier centre for veterinary epidemiology and informatics.

3. Tribute to Founder Director

A solemn tribute was paid to Dr. M. Rajasekhar, Founder Director of ICAR-NIVEDI, in recognition of his pioneering contributions and vision.

4. Guest Lecture

Dr. D. Sridharan, Chairperson, Institutional Ethics Committee at ChanRe Rheumatology and Immunology Centre, delivered an insightful lecture on “Role of Institutional Ethics Committee (Human Studies) for Intervention Studies.”

5. Progressive Farmer Felicitation

Ten progressive livestock farmers from Karnataka were felicitated for their exemplary work in livestock husbandry and innovative practices that have improved productivity and animal health.

6. Scientist & Staff Awards (2024–25)

7. Sports & Team Building

Staff welfare activities included sports competitions among staff and research scholars. Winners were honoured with shields and certificates to promote team spirit and well-being.

8. Address by Director and Chief Guest

Dr. Baldev R. Gulati, Director, lauded the staff for securing national and international grants and reaffirmed the institute's commitment to One Health. Chief Guest Dr. Artabandhu Sahoo, Director, ICAR-NIANP, praised ICAR-NIVEDI’s collaborative achievements in livestock research and epidemiology.

9. Vote of Thanks

Dr. K. P. Suresh, Programme Coordinator, expressed gratitude to dignitaries, guests, and participants for their contributions to the successful celebration of the Foundation Day.
