DAHD–NIVEDI Partnership to Strengthen Livestock Disease Intelligence and Control

Hon’ble Shri Naresh Pal Gangwar, Secretary, Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India, visited ICAR–National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics (ICAR-NIVEDI), Bengaluru, on 6^th and 8^th November 2025.

Dr. Baldev R. Gulati, Director, and the staff warmly welcomed the Secretary, who planted a tree and toured key research facilities, including the Disease Informatics and PPR-WOAH Reference Laboratories. He commended NIVEDI’s leadership in livestock disease surveillance and research initiatives.

During the visit, Shri Gangwar inaugurated NIVEDI’s Toll-Free Numbers (1800-599-4233) for veterinarians and livestock owners, and released the National Sero-Monitoring Plan for Brucellosis and Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD).

He expressed DAHD’s commitment to work with NIVEDI in strengthening the National Digital Livestock Mission (NDLM) for disease forecasting, communication, and control. Dr. Gulati highlighted plans to integrate NIVEDI’s NADRES platform with NDLM under the proposed National Animal Disease Information and Control Centre (NADICC).

Smt. Varsha Joshi, Additional Secretary, emphasized supporting NADICC’s infrastructure through DAHD. The visit, coordinated by Dr. S. S. Patil, concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Rajeswari Shome.
